CVS has quietly announced layoffs. According to this Journal report the company ‘cites economic’ factors as the reason for the cuts.
Nearly 100 jobs at the CVS Pharmacy office in Chestnut Ridge are affected by a layoff notice filed with state regulators.
The pharmacy company’s filing described economic factors as the reason for an expected plant layoff involving 99 jobs at the Rockland County business at 80 Red School House Road, state Department of Labor records show.
Gary Serby, a CVS spokesman, said the Rockland long-term care distribution facility, which is under the company’s Omnicare affiliate, is being consolidated into facilities located in Plainview and Ballston Spa, New York, as well as Whippany, New Jersey.
“We made this difficult but necessary decision in order to better integrate and manage Omnicare’s long-term care distribution services to help better meet the needs of our long-term care clients,” Serby said.
The affected employees at the Chestnut Ridge office were notified last week, Serby said, and will be eligible to receive severance benefits, including outplacement services. The employees can also apply for open CVS Health positions in the area
